Our First Rodeo!

This past Friday we had a family day at the Houston Rodeo! Jonathan had been as a kid, but this was Caleb, Aaron and my first time. I had polled a few friends at school the day before and gotten tips to make this a fun outing.

We decided to park at the MetroRail and ride the "train" to the rodeo. It's literally the first stop so we were only on the train for a few minutes, but it dropped us off right at the door instead of walking a mile or more from the parking lot. And, a bonus, Caleb LOVES trains...so he was super excited!

Waiting for the train!

The day started out on the cool side, so we went inside first to see exhibits. Caleb liked watching some of the eggs beginning to hatch at the chick area. He didn't have enough patience to watch a chick actually hatch, but thought the new ones were cute : )

After walking around a few other exhibits we found the pony rides.

Aaron waiting for his brother to get a turn, I knew he wouldn't let go of me and get on a horse so we didn't even try.
Caleb chose "Dolly" to ride on...he liked her white spots.

After the pony ride, we got in line for the petting zoo. There were a lot of animals to feed and pet. Caleb wasn't so sure about them, but slowly warmed up. Aaron insisted on being held the whole time, though I did get him to pet a few animals.

Love this picture Jonathan took of Aaron and I! He's my sweet, clingy, Momma's boy : )

While we were in line for the petting zoo, I heard someone saying "Lutz...hey, Lutz!"...I turned around to see my brother and his family walking toward us. Apparently we weren't the only ones trying to do the rodeo before all the Spring Breakers came out this week! We finished with the petting zoo and went to join his family for lunch.

Eli and Caleb happy to be "eating" together....I put that in quotes because neither really ate that much, I think they were too excited to see each other.
Walking to the carnival.
The little ones weren't tall enough for the rides, so they had to wait for their older brothers

Eli and Caleb were train engineers.
Caleb was so serious about the tractor that he wouldn't turn to smile for us!
Working at the "Farmers Market"
Cousins enjoying a snack before heading home. Aaron was sharing his goldfish...super cute!
We had a quick train ride out to the car and then headed home. Caleb passed out in the car, his big day wore him out! Now that we've done the rodeo once, I definitely see doing it every year! Can't wait for Aaron to be big enough to get excited about it too. : )
