Uh Oh...

I'm not ready! I'm not ready! I'm not ready!

If I say it over and over again, maybe it will make a difference! I'm not ready for Aaron to get bigger and start doing new things...

I don't think he's listening! Our sweet 4 1/2 month old is starting to grow up. He's not sitting up on his own for very long, but he can hold himself up for several seconds at a time. I know this is just the beginning and that he's not slowing down now. I suspect it will only be a week or two (if not a few days) before he starts sitting up for longer periods of time.

I'm not ready!

Thanksgiving 2011

Our first big holiday with two boys has come and gone! It's hard to believe fall has visited and the Christmas season is beginning. As I constantly seem to be asking these days... Where has the time gone?!?

Thanksgiving was a small gathering this year. Just the four of us, GG, Papa and Uncle Derrill. Since most of our holidays are large events, it was nice to have a small, simple lunch this year. GG brought the main part of the meal and I took care of some of the sides. We kept everything easy - just the way a family holiday should be!

I love Caleb's arm propped up on the chair.

Aaron hanging out with Uncle D!
GG, Papa and Derrill stuck around to watch an afternoon football game and then headed home to relax. The rest of the afternoon was spent pulling Christmas things out of storage and attempting not to cry at the end of the A&M - Texas football game

Friday morning was spent mostly the same and then we got ready to go to Jonathan's Dad's house for Thanksgiving #2. Drew and Laura successfully prepared their first Thanksgiving meal and we enjoyed some time with them, Grandpa and Dao.

We had two great Thanksgivings this year and enjoyed several days of relaxing and decorating for Christmas. We're not done yet, but have a great start!

We hope everyone had a blessed Thanksgiving!

Family Pictures

A sweet friend of ours, Jessica Clarkson, took our family pictures a few weeks ago. We went out to a local park and did the best we could with a two year old and a (at the time) 3 month old. She stopped by today to drop off our prints and give us a cd of the pictures we ordered...yay!

I think she did a wonderful job capturing our family. Thanks, Jessica, for our beautiful pictures!

LOVE this one : )

Things Caleb Says...

Caleb is just now getting to the point of putting words together to form sentences. Most are just two words ("Mommy help", "More please", etc.), so Jonathan was surprised when he heard this sentence last weekend when he got Caleb out of bed after his nap.

Jonathan usually knocks as he opens Caleb's door when he wakes up, but didn't this particular time. As he opened the door, Caleb looked at him and said, "Daddy, you no knock." and then he made three clicking noises with his tongue like knocks on the door while making the hand motion for knocking.

Jonathan came down the stairs laughing because Caleb was so serious. It was really cute : )

***Correction: Jonathan read this and then told me it needed correcting. Jonathan sneakily opened the door and crawled across the floor to Caleb's bed. He surprised him at the bed and then Caleb said "Daddy, you no knock."***

I LOVE it!

I love that Caleb loves playing with his brother and that Aaron loves when Caleb is near him!

Playing with toys on the exersaucer.
Watching big brother.
Notice Aaron is turning to find Caleb : )

Sneak Peak

Guess who's room is being re-done...

I'm slowly working on un-baby-fying Caleb's room, I hope to be done by the new year...we'll see : )

Aaron: 4 months

We have a 4 month old, which means I know longer have time to keep up with the blog like I have been! It's truly as if he knew he turned 4 months old last week and suddenly decided to start requiring more of our time and focus.

Aaron is such a bundle of energy! If he's awake, he's active. He rotates between his exersaucer and the floor. In the exersaucer he bounces, turns in full circles, and plays with the toys around him.

On the floor he's constantly rolling and beginning to slowly scoot backwards. Every once in a while he gets in the mood to be held a lot, but he's typically content being down.

And when that energy finally runs out...he crashes!

Today we started putting him in his crib while he's awake so that he can fall asleep on his own. We had been doing that in the swing for some time, but recently he's started to need more help falling asleep. Since he's been more fussy while going down for naps, I wasn't sure how he'd do in his crib. The first time he cried off and on for about 10 minutes before falling asleep. The next two times he didn't cry at all. (Maybe 1 or 2 peeps...but not even enough to say he cried) We'll see how he does for the next few days, but I'm hoping this sticks and we won't have to work so hard to get him to sleep.

I took Aaron to his 4 month appointment last Wednesday. The doc says he's doing great. He's continuing  to grow and develop right on schedule if not a tad bit early.

Stats for this month are:

Height: 24 3/4" (62nd percentile)
Weight: 14 lbs 6.5 oz (58th percentile)

Aaron is already outgrowing his 3-6 month outfits, so I've been working on pulling out the 6-9 month clothes. It's hard to believe he's growing so quickly.

We love our little man so much! He's such a happy, smiley, giggly little boy. I think we'll keep him a bit longer : )

Visit to the Farm

My grandparents live around 2 1/2 hours away from us in a tiny farm community outside of Austin. They really aren't that far away, but somehow a newborn and 2 year old on that drive didn't sound all that pleasant. We wanted Aaron to meet his Great Granny & Grandpa soon, so we took a day trip out this past Saturday. My parents wanted to go at the same time, so we all loaded up in their van around 6 am and headed out to the farm.

The trip up went very well. Aaron slept the whole way and Caleb allowed me to entertain him. I had hoped he would fall asleep after we put him in the car, but no such luck. At least he wasn't a grouch! Both boys were ready to see Granny and Grandpa when we got there.

Love at first sight : ) You can't tell very well, but Aaron is smiling at Grandpa.
Our boys with their great-grandparents. This just makes me smile
Sitting around the table. This is like a view into my childhood. Every time we would visit the farm, the adults would spend forever talking around this table.
Part of the reason we went up with my parents was so that Jonathan and my dad could do some work outside. Grandpa had three trees near the house that had died recently and needed to be taken down before they fell on the house or workshop. I wish I had gotten some working pictures, but I was busy inside with the boys. They got the three trees down before lunch, took a break to eat, and then cleaned up the debris. I found them out on the porch after they finished.

Watching Great-Grandpa work on the tractor. There are four generations in this picture ... so special!
Jonathan, Grandpa & Pops out on the patio.
The women were inside discussing things Mom and I saw at the quilt show the day before.
When Caleb woke up from a short nap, he and Grandpa went for a little walk together.

Walking in the carport.
Exploring the farm.
Then Grandpa insisted that Jonathan and Caleb take a ride on Big Red.

My two hard-workin' guys!
Driving
Trying out one of the other tractors. He got to see Grandpa use this one to clean up some of the debris.
Caleb wasn't the only one having fun at the farm. Aaron was loved on and spoiled rotten. Just check out this happy guy!

Smiling while playing on the floor in the living room.
We had an early dinner and then packed up to head back home around 6. The car ride back didn't go quite as smoothly as the ride up, but it could have been much worse. We are really thankful to Pops for doing all the driving and Grandma for sitting next to Aaron and loving on him when he was fussy.

We had a GREAT visit to the farm and loved that Granny and Grandpa got to meet Aaron. We were completely exhausted the next day, but it was totally worth it.
