First Day of School

The 2011-2012 school year has begun!

PWS '11-'12
Today was Caleb's first day in a big kid class and Aaron's first day of school ever! Caleb had a great day. No crying when he left Mommy, he ate pretty well, played with friends and took a short nap. Aaron's day wasn't quite as good. He had to be held quite a bit and was generally fussy, but I think a lot of that is just that his teachers don't know what works for him yet. I'm sure after a few days he'll be doing well too. My day was great. I'm excited about the kids in my class (and my co-teachers) and loved the freedom of going to nurse Aaron when he needed me.

Working on his "meet the teacher" balloon (at home since he didn't get to go to meet the teacher!)
Having lots of fun!
Our first picture attempt this morning...love that Caleb is holding Aaron's feet!
Watching Dora after school. He was shoving food in his mouth and his eyes are closed, but it's the only picture we have of his crazy pose!
We're all pretty wiped out this afternoon, but in a good way! I asked Caleb if he's ready to go back on Thursday and he acted like he wanted to go now! YAY for a great start to our new school year!

Great Reminder

Today, on facebook, I was given a great reminder...I thought some of you might need it too!

Jacob cheated, Peter had a bad temper, David had an affair, Jonah ran from God, Paul committed murder, Gideon was insecure, Miriam gossiped, Martha worried, Thomas doubted, Sara was impatient, Elijah was moody, Moses stuttered, Zacchaeus was short, Abraham was old, and Lazarus was dead. God does not call the qualified; he qualifies the called!

Aaron: Smiling

Aaron has been smiling occasionally at Mommy and Daddy for several weeks now, but every time we grab the camera he stops! It's been driving me crazy not to have those moments on camera! Well - YAY, we finally got a few! Grandma was able to get a few good ones and we got one at home.

Check out this cutie : )

Preparing for PWS!

We start PeeWee School on Tuesday! I love PWS and am excited to get started again. We had "meet the teacher" day on Thursday and I got to meet most of my kids, I can't wait to see them on Tuesday and start getting to know each of their little personalities.

Caleb & Aaron will also start on Tuesday. Caleb will be in a big kid class this year and Aaron will be in the teacher's kids class. We've been trying to make sure we have everything together and thought out so that we're not scrambling on Monday evening. The big difference for Caleb this year will be napping on a mat instead of in a crib. We got him a cute mat from GG. I put it on the floor the other day to see his reaction...

UGH...isn't he CUTE!

Thanks to Grandma Deb, Grandma Mal and GG for watching Caleb these past two weeks during my in-service days. I've enjoyed preparing for kids, but am ready for things to start! Let's bring on the school year : )

Aaron is 6 weeks old!

Instead of asking myself how on earth Aaron could possibly be 6 weeks old, I find myself wondering how it could be that he hasn't always been here with us! It just feels natural for him to be part of our family now!

Aaron is already proving to be a strong little man! He's rolled from his tummy to his back a few times (completely on his own) and just this afternoon he did this:

He held this position long enough for me to go get the camera, turn it on and take several pictures. He held his chest several inches off the ground with just his right arm! I was amazed!

After his minute of super strength, he was tired of being on the floor so he sat in Mommy's lap for a little while. Doesn't he already look like a big boy?!?

He's been getting bigger and bigger each day. We're pretty sure he's close to 11 lbs already. He's sleeping a little longer each night. We now usually get a 6-8 hour stretch at night which is wonderful! Typically I feed him between 9 and 10 and we make it until between 3 and 5 before he needs to eat again. Then we get a short period of sleep before it's time to wake up. Only one interruption in sleep has been great!

After I took several pictures of Aaron showing off, Caleb needed his turn with the camera too! As soon as Aaron was in my lap, Caleb plopped down on the blanket and said "cheese" over and over again! He's such a goof : )

Happy 6 week birthday, Aaron! We love you!

Crazy Week

We've jumped head first into the new school year here in the Lutz household! This week, I had my first in-service days at PeeWee School. Many people have said I'm crazy to start back so early (just 5 weeks after my c-section), but I feel completely fine and really enjoyed my first two days back.

I was fortunate enough to have my mom watch Caleb on Tuesday and Thursday, so I just had Aaron with me up at school while we were setting up. It was tough enough to focus and get things done with Aaron with me, I'm not sure I would have even been helpful if I had Caleb too. Next week will be the same (GG and Grandma Mal are each spending a day with Caleb) and then the three of us will start school on the 30th! I'm super excited that Aaron has both of the teachers Caleb had last year. They are WONDERFUL! I only know Caleb's teachers as coworkers....but I'm excited about them as well. Two of the teachers have been there for quite some time and the third is new this year but has previous teaching experience.

Besides the craziness of starting back to school, we've been busy getting back into our old routine of running errands and doing housework.

Yesterday we had a family lunch at our house for my and Kristen's birthdays. My birthday isn't technically until Wednesday, but Jonathan gave me my present early, a Nook Color! I had mentioned wanting one a while back, but never thought he'd actually give me one. I've already been enjoying doing some reading with it and LOVE it!

After a busy week and Saturday, we relaxed after going to church today. It was nice to have a day of rest before we jump into the craziness again tomorrow.

Here are some pictures from the week/weekend! Enjoy : )

Sweet Little Man

Our sweet little man had a fun time relaxing on the boppy this morning. Isn't he a cutie?!?

(I realize this video isn't super exciting - or even interesting for some of you - but I love his quiet, relaxed personality and this video really shows how he is at this stage)

This is pretty soon after the video... he just kind of passed out in the swing after such an exciting morning : )

Iowa Family Visit

Jonathan's brother, Roger, and his family came to visit this past weekend. They were able to fly down on Friday morning and didn't have to fly back until this morning! It made for a nice extended weekend for visiting!

They primarily came down to meet Aaron, so we spent a lot of time just hanging out at our house, but they did do a few fun things with Laura, Drew and Mal. On Monday they went down to Palm Beach and it sounds like it's changed quite a bit since we were there last year...I'm looking forward to next summer when we might be up for going again. We literally sat around the house most of the time they were here. It gave Juliana and Caleb a chance to play and it kept us out of the heat. We did go out to Chick-fil-a on Saturday and Berrylicious on Sunday afternoon, but the rest of our time with Roger, Jill and Juliana was here at the house.

Here are some pictures from their visit...

The first thing Juliana wanted to do was hold Aaron...not sure he was too thrilled though!
Aunt Jill and Aaron (still calming down from Juliana)
Uncle Roger and Aaron (haha - I just noticed we were using one of the burp cloths from Caleb...that could make looking back at pictures a little confusing in a few years!)

Saturday Afternoon Project

I saw the cutest Cars fabric at Hobby Lobby the other day and new I had to get it, but had no idea what I would make with it! (I believe the need to buy fabric I don't know what to do with comes from GG - it's definitely an inherited trait!) I did some blog searching and decided a big floor pillow sounded like a good idea.

So on Saturday afternoon, while the boys were napping, I got crafty! I didn't have a pattern...so I decided to wing it. I think it turned out pretty cute! I've still got some of the cars material left, so I'm thinking of some other ways to use it. I love projects that can be started and finished in one afternoon!

Caleb's 1st Fort!

We have entered into the world of forts! We're starting out pretty basic...but having lots of fun!

I quickly made this while holding Aaron the other day and Caleb has requested I do it again each day since then.... and then he gets the camera so I'll take another picture!
Maybe while Caleb's cousin, Juliana, is visiting from Iowa this weekend we can go bigger! I guess I should go pull out some quilts and blankets...we may be needing them : )
